About This Blog

As an employee of Accenture, a global consulting company, I am fortunate to be connected with the development charity, Cuso International, and provided the opportunity to take a one year leave of absence to fill a volunteer placement overseas. Accenture has been working with Cuso International/VSO since 1999, enabling employees to share their business and management skills and experience with local communities in the developing world.

I have the privilege of working for Education as a Vaccine (EVA) in Abuja, Nigeria, as their Development and Fundraising Advisor. EVA is a youth-led NGO founded with a mission to implement sustainable programs for improved quality of life for vulnerable children and young people – focused in the area of HIV/AIDS. It is estimated that over one third of Nigeria’s total population is between the ages of 10 and 24, making them integral to the country’s social, political, and economic development. I am very excited about the opportunity to work with this organization in Abuja and experience all that Africa has to offer over the next year!

My purpose in writing this blog is to keep my friends and family up to date on life in Nigeria.  I make no guarantee of deep insights or wisdom of any kind, although I do hope that you are able to learn or take something away from it :)

The views expressed in this blog do not reflect those of Accenture, Cuso International, VSO, EVA or any of the partner organizations within Nigeria for whom I may be working.
